Hertha BSC victorious at AOK Traditionsmaster

Two days of derbies, footballing legends and plenty of love from the fans – that’s what to expect from the AOK Traditionsmaster. Once again, even before the opening whistle blew, this year's event already promised to be a good time. For the first time, the tournament saw Union Berlin and Hertha BSC face each other as Bundesliga clubs.

After Hertha’s city rivals had to say an early goodbye following the group stages, the Herthaner were able to really get going.

The first semi-final saw Hertha – the sole remaining representative from Berlin – take on Borussia Dortmund. The Blue-Whites dominated the match, as Marcel Ndjeng scored a hat trick on his way to winning the Man of the Match award. The 3-0 win also secured Hertha a spot in the final.

The final saw the team face off against Dinamo Tiflis, who had played well all tournament. The Hertha legends got off to a strong start, and took a 2-0 lead with them into half time. Despite Dinamo Tiflis cutting the deficit, the match ended 5-2 in favour of the Old Lady, who were able to take the trophy home to Berlin. It was the third time the Blue-Whites have won the Legends Cup, after also doing so in 2014 and 2015.

There was plenty of action off the pitch as well. All four Hertha eSports players were on site and took on young and old fans alike in the ‘Beat the Pro’ event. The Hertha BSC eSports academy booth saw many fans gather to challenge each other in a friendly game of FIFA20.
