Hertha eSports qualify for the 'Final Chance'

Third time lucky! After our eHerthaner missed out on qualifying for the playoffs in each of the last two years, the team punched their ticket for the ‘Final Chance’ for the first time on Wednesday evening (10/03/21). “We’ve worked hard towards this goal all season and so we are really happy that we’ve managed to make this step successfuly,” said coach Daren Framke with delight.

There was good reason to be happy. After our quartet of Tom Bismark, Leroy Richter, Eren Poyraz and Christoph Strietzel only managed to get three points on the final day of the Club Championship against TSG Hoffenheim, all eyes turned towards the clash between FC Augsburg and SpVgg Greuther Fürth. Thanks to a helping hand from Augsburg, who beat Fürth 5-2, the Hertha BSC eSport Academy was able to secure a place in the playoffs with the aim of reaching the ‘Grand Final’. In the so-called ‘Final Chance’ match, the blue and whites will face FC St. Pauli on Tuesday (16/03/21, 20:00 CET) with a place in the final tournament on the line. “St. Pauli are a good side but we obviously want to make it to the final. Anything is possible in the three match-ups,” said coach Framke ahead of the hotly-anticipated clash.

Showcase against Borussia Dortmund

Before all attention turns to that game, the eHerthaner have another big date in the calendar. Our content creator Elias 'EliasN97' Nerlich will play against Borussia Dortmund’s influencer Erné in a showcase on Thursday (11/03/21, 18:00 CET). It will be a virtual meeting of the two sides before the Hertha first team take on Borussia on Saturday (16/03/21, 18:30 CET). You can follow the action on our Twitch channel, 'HerthaBSCeSport'.
